Frequently Asked Questions
- Where is your studio located? My full service private studio is in my Glendale, Az home at 51st Ave and Greenway
- When should I schedule my Living Art Maternity Photo Session? It is really up to your personal preference and how pregnant you would like to look in you photos, but I usually suggest between your 34th and 36th week. Please allow enough time to schedule your appointment as I am usually booked out 2-4 weeks in advance.
- What do I wear? I am happy to go over wardrobe ideas for you and your family. For the Living Art Maternity session I provide the fabrics and highly encourage the use of them for the majority of the session. I feel that the fabrics and use of strategically placed arms, legs, and lighting ads to the artistic quality of the images.
- What should I bring to the session? The Living Art Maternity session does not use many props. But if you have ideas that you would like to try out and need certain props for please feel free to discuss this first so I can make the appropriate arrangements or you are welcome to bring your own props. For the Celebrating Life Baby Series I suggest that you bring your own blankets, toys, and any other items that you would love to see in the photos with your child. I feel that providing your own items for the photos make them that much more meaningful when you look at them down the road. Instead of a standard baby blanket you will remember the blanket that Grandma Betty hand made for your child.
I also recommend that you bring the same item or two to each session so that the baby can be photographed with that item throughout his or her first year - that way it becomes a growth marker.
I don't limit the number of props that are used during a session, but my style if very minimalist so I don't want the baby to get "lost" in the stuff. Let's remember what the purpose of the photo session is for - to capture your belly/child not the "stuff."
- Can I have my spouse and or other children involved in the session? Yes! In fact I highly encourage it. The Living Art Maternity session is all about capturing your family during this milestone in your life. I take photos of mom-to-be alone, mom and dad together, mom and children together, and all the family together. The Celebrating Life Sessions are focused on one child's development so that child will be in all the photos, but I definitely want to capture the family with the new child as well.
- How long does a photo session take? I always book out at least a 2 hour session for all of my clients. I would say on average most sessions take about 1 to 1 ½ hours. Because infants are unpredictable I will not rush you through a session. I allow the session length and speed be determined by the mood and needs of the child. If the child needs a break from the lights, a feeding, or just some lovin' off camera we will stop the session and take the time needed to attend to his or her needs.
- How long does it take to be able to view my images? Because I want the WOW factor from my clients when they view their photos, I review, edit and lightly touchup the photos prior to showing them to my clients. This makes my turn around time 1-2 weeks. I will not go over 2 weeks. I know that it is very hard to wait to see the photos so I do my best to keep the turn around to the utmost minimum, but I will not compromise quality to compete with other studios that have immediate image reviews. I have found that my clients are much happier with their results when I have a chance to "work my magic" on their images
- How long does it take to get my prints back? All of your final images will be fully edited, retouched, cropped, and color corrected according to your desires and my artistic eye. Most prints will be ready to pickup or mail within 5-10 business days. Some larger prints and specialty items take longer.
- Do you carry a guarantee? Yes! I have a 100% money back guarantee from the initial photo session to the final prints. I stand behind everything that I do and everything that comes out of my studio. I will do whatever it takes to make you happy and completely satisfied or I will refund your session fee and/or print costs.
- Can I get my images on disc? My packages do not come with the digital images. Again it comes to quality and my name being associated with the images. I have found that you can take the same image to several different labs and get several different (usually sub-quality) results. I don't like selling my digital images, because I don't have quality control for the final print. If you have a special situation that you need a digital image for please discuss this with me and we can work toward a compromise regarding this policy.
